Shiatsu client questionnaire
Professionalism, Shiatsu Practice
As I mentioned yesterday I am creating a questionnaire for initial shiatsu consultations. I have never up to now used a formal set of questions to interview my clients preferring instead to just go where the conversation lead me. I think this has been a useful approach and helped me to notice not only what my clients were saying but how they were saying it.
Although I have a set of questions to drop into the consultation I have probably missed a lot of information by improvising. Now as I learn more about the syndromes in Chinese medicine and try to apply that knowledge I see how important it is to bring some structure to my questioning.
Now that I have a draft questionnaire on my PC it seems a nonsense that I have not used one before. The way I see myself using this in the future is to send it out to new clients prior to the first appointment. This is an opportunity to get a lot of structured information down on paper which I can then use in the interview. In other words I can start to use my more conversational style more effectively using the answers on the questionnaire as a foundation.
