Proof

Personal Development

I recommend this post by Steve Pavlina on the subject of Proof

A couple of quotes that speak to me:

At its core, proof-seeking is rooted in fear, self-doubt, and low self-esteem. What if I believe something that turns out to be false? What if I make a mistake? What if I stray too far from the herd?

You don’t need social permission to pursue what genuinely interests you, no matter how “out there” it may seem. Just enjoy the experience.

Shiatsu above all else is about experience. It is about experiencing the Ki of your receiver. That is a subjective feeling; how I experience that is going to be different to how you experience it. That is difficult to teach and even harder to learn. I guess that as Western students we are brought up to question learning that is not backed up by facts and proof.

Some of us fear making that leap into the unknown and this blog is peppered with my doubts and expressions of my own fear. Gradually I have opened up to this experience but still I am knocked sideways by expressions of others doubts. Steve’s article is right on the money but freeing oneself takes effort.
