Mental upgrade

Personal Development

In my Intentions for 2007 I said that I would develop skills that would benefit me. As a part of this I have been giving my mind a bit of a workout.

  • The Complete Guide to Memory Mastery (Fell’s Official Know-it-all Guide) This book shows you how to remember faces, long numbers, interesting articles and memorise a deck of playing cards! As a student I need to remember lots of stuff but as a Shiatsu practitioner I think it makes a good impression to have a decent memory for dates and events. This book was first published in 1957 and is a real classic on the subject of memory systems.
  • Think Like a Maths Genius: The Art of Calculating in Your Head I am OK with my sums but increasingly feel that sitting in front of a PC all day has made my number crunching skills more than a little lazy. This book lets you in on those secrets of mental arithmetic that school did not teach.

I suppose I must becoming a bit of a Luddite and increasingly trying to live my life without the aid of electronic assistance. I have already posted about SatNav so you won’t be surprised to hear that I rely on good old street maps to find my client’s!
