The Gall Bladder
The Yang organ of the Wood element paired with the Liver; it is also one of the most interesting of the Yang organs. The Gall Bladder stores Bile and aids the digestive process. Chinese Medicine considers Bile to be a pure fluid since it is not ingested or excreted by the body.
Like the Liver it is associated with choice making but where the Liver is about long term plans, the Gall Bladder is the short term, instant decision maker. To make quick decisions one needs to be tidy, organised , spontaneous and able to think clearly. All of these are under the influence of the Gall Bladder. A failing of the Gall Bladder is that one can become obsessively tidy or organised.
This is a lot of functions for a Yang organ; they usually just churn, store and assist. This is why, coupled with its storage of Bile, it holds a special place amongst the Yang organs in Chinese medicine.
